Content > Create your pages

Wizz-it has a great page creator which gives you a huge amount of freedom in displaying the content on your pages and is very easy to use! Here we'll talk you through the steps to create your pages and add your content.

Please see our Tips box on this page to get some tips on how to make your page work as best as possible.

Step 1:
Click on the Content tab.

Step 2:
Click on the Pages tab.

Step 3:
The list on the page that loads shows the pages that have been created for your site. To create a new page just press the Add Pages button.  (To delete a page check the box beside the page and press the Delete Selected button.)

Step 4:
Under the Title field enter the new name of the page.
This will not actaully show on the website but is displayed at the top of the visitors browser window and is also used by search engines to determine your ranking, so to boost your ratings we suggest adding some keywords in.

Step5:
Under the Menu Title field enter the name of the page as you would like it to appear on the website. This is the title that will appear in the website's main navigation menu. Therefore we recommend this is a shortened version of the Title field.

Step 6:
Under 'The Sub-Menu this page will be displayed under' menu select the sub-menu that you want the page to appear under. If you want it to appear on the main menu select 'Main Menu'.

Step 7:
Check the next box, 'Use this page as my homepage' if you want this page to be used as your homepage. This is the page that visitors to your site will land on first before entering your site and usually holds a logo or image which when clicked on take you into the site.
If checked this page will display just the content you enter in the text editor against your chosen background colour/image and all content entered below will be a link into the website.

Step 8:
The next step is the important step... adding your content into the text editor!

The editor allows you to do a lot more than just copying and pasting your text. You can style your text using word like features, insert images, movies and flash files, organise your content into different columns and rows, create links to other pages in your website and on the internet, paste content from other applications and lots of other things.

The picture below shows the text editor as you will see it in the control panel. The main white box is where the body of content is displayed.

Text Editor

To add content to the text editor:

a) If you want to have more than just text on your page we suggest first adding a table to your page so you can split your content and pictures (or movies etc) up into rows & columns.

b) To add a table press the Insert Table button Templates where you want the table to appear and a pop-up box will appear where you can select the number of rows & columns you want. After choosing the amount of rows & columns your table will appear in the editor. To change the width of the table click the Table Properties button (Templates) and enter the width in the width field. Click here to view more instructions on what settings to enter.

c) Either type the text directly or paste the text from another application.

d) To style a selection of text select the text you want to stylise and apply the style by clicking on the corresponding button.

e) To add an image press the Insert Image button Templates and select a file from your webspace. To add a new image press the Upload button in the top right hand corner. Click here to view more instructions on adding an image.

f) To add a movie or flash file press the Insert/Embed Media button Templates. From the Type menu select the type of file you want to add. If you are linking a movie/flash file from another website enter the address of the movie in the File/URL box. If you want to play a file from your webspace then press teh Browse button beside the File/URL field and select the movie from your webspace. (to upload one press the upload button in the top right hand corner). Click here for more information on adding movies.

g) To create a link from text/pictures to another page on the internet or on your website press the Templates button. In the Link/URL field enter the address of the website you want to link to. If you want to link to a file on your wespace such as a pdf/doc etc press the Browse button beside the Link/URL field and select the file you want to link to. Alternativley if you want to link to another page on your website leave the Link/URL field blank and select a page from the Link list menu. In the target field select whether you want the page to open in the same or a new window. The title field will not be visible but is used by search engines so we suggest entering some related keywords to the link in there.

You can see the button appendix page for information on each button.

Step 6:
When you are finished editing press the Save button.
