Content > Create a gallery

Displaying your pictures in a Gallery is a great way to show them off. You can have as many images in your gallery as you want, and choose how you would like your images to be displayed.

To create a gallery:

Step 1:
Click on the Pages Tab.

Step 2:
Select the gallery you want to edit from the list or if you want to create a new one press the Add Page link. (To delete a page check the box beside the page and press the Delete Selected button.)

Step 4:
The first stage is to enter all the settings for the gallery. Under the Title field enter the new name of the page.
This will not actaully show on the website but is displayed at the top of the visitors browser window and is also used by search engines to determine your ranking, so to boost your ratings we suggest adding some keywords in.

Step5:
Under the Menu Title field enter the name of the page as you would like it to appear on the website. This is the title that will appear in the website's main navigation menu. Therefore we recommend this is a shortened version of the Title field.

Step 6:
Under 'The Sub-Menu this page will be displayed under' menu select the sub-menu that you want the page to appear under. If you want it to appear on the main menu select 'Main Menu'.

Step 7:
Select 'Enable Sidebar on this Page' if you would like the sidebar widget to appear on this gallery.

Step 8:
Under Page Status select whether you would the page to be Active (live on website) or kept as a draft (not viewable from the website).

Step 9:
If you would like your Gallery password protected then enter a password that you users will have to enter to access the gallery.

Step 10:
Under Gallery Type select the option you want from the list. See our description below for more information on each option.

thumbnails
1) Thumbnails
This method will display a page of thumbnails on the gallery page. When a thumbnail is clicked on the picture will enlarge and the rest of the thumbnails will be dimmed. Users will be able to scroll through each picture using left and right arrows.
Scroll through
2) Scroll through
This method will display a large picture with thumbnails underneath. When a thumbnail is clicked on it will load up into the large picture area. Your images will be displayed to their exact size.
Rotate

3)Scroll Through (Flash)
This is a smooth scrolling flash anitmated gallery. It has a full size option plus a zoom effect so viewers can take a closer look at the image. Thumbnails appear along the bottom row and clicking on a thumbnail will load the picture in the large picture area.

Its similar to the Scroll Through gallery but will display all your images the same size... so its useful if you have lots of different sized images and want to keep them uniform.

Rotate

3) Rotate (Flash)
This method is useful if you want a simple and smart rotating picture display.

You can choose whether or not you want the picture numbers to be displayed along the bottom of the picture (by selecting the 'display image numbers' option). If you do have the numbers displayed, clicking on a picture number will display the current picture in that gallery.

The 'Display text on left' option is useful if you want to create a page with your content entered via the text editor on the left and then have some pictures rotating round on the right hand side of the page. This is useful if you want to spruce up a page without having to insert photos within the text.

Rotate

4) Rotating Postcard Stack (Flash)
This is useful if you want your pictures to rotate round automatically but with a bit more 'funkiness'. Images are rotated automatically with the picture title being displayed underneath in the chosen website font colour. Clicking on a picture will move it onto the next picture immediately.

Step 11:
If you would like to have a gallery description, the next step is to select where you would like it to appear (in relation to the gallery) select Above Gallery / Left of Gallery / Below Gallery / Right of Gallery.

Step 12:
Select the 'enable PayPal shopping cart on this gallery' option if you would like to turn your gallery into a shopping cart that users can buy items from. If checked you can then enter the item price & shipping cost in the image in the Edit section beside each image.

Step 13:
If you are adding a gallery: Press the Save button to continue to the Content section.
Or if you are editing a gallery: Press the Content tab at top of the page to continue to the content section.

Step 14:
Next you can enter some content for your gallery, this could be either a description about the gallery or a title etc. Some people prefer to leave it blank if on the Rotate option to get a nice clean look.

Step 15:
The final stage is to add the images to your gallery. Scroll down to the Upload Images section and follow Step 1) Click here to select images to upload, then Step 2) Click here to upload images.
To upload multiple images press the Control button (if using a PC) or Apple button (if using a Mac). Once selected the image(s) will appear in a list beneath.
NB: You cannot re-use images already on your webspace in this gallery, all images used in the gallery must be uploaded from your computer.
